The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery proudly represents more than 2800 facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons through the planet. It is the world’s largest specialty association and holds an official seat in the both the AMA House of Delegates and the American College of Surgeons board of governors. Members are board certified surgeons who focus their surgical practice on the face, head, and neck specialties. The members are held to an extremely high code of ethics that are upheld by governance and consequence.

Specialization in medicine has been one of the major enhancements in patient care over the last generation. Members focus specifically on patient care, but they also have more comprehensive training in facial surgery than any other medical specialty.

Board certification is an important step to membership, and it is recognized by a specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties. A majority of members are also certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, which includes facial plastic surgery. Others are certified in plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and dermatology.

George Tkalych grew up on the prairies of Saskatchewan. He is a retired Head and Neck (Ears, Nose, and Throat) Surgeon but proudly spent his life living his dream job, serving others to get them through surgery and medical needs. George launched the use of lasers in doing tonsillectomy in the early 1980’s and was mentioned in several papers and magazines. He has ventured to the Rockies, Vancouver and Saskatchewan to fish, rock climb and ski. George proudly takes solace in the fact that he has helped ease people’s pain and frustrations.
