The Florida Keys are a coral cay archipelago located off the southern coast of Florida. They form the southernmost portion of the continental United States. They begin on the southeastern coast of the Florida peninsula, about 15 miles south of Miami. This area extends in a gentle arc south-southwest and then westward to Key West, the westernmost of the inhabited islands, and on to the uninhabited Dry Tortugas. The islands are right off the Florida Straits, dividing the Atlantic Ocean to the east from the Gulf of Mexico to the northwest and defining one edge of Florida Bay. At the nearest point, the southern part of Key West is just 90 miles from Cuba.

The city of Key West is the county seat of Monroe County. The county consists of a section on the mainland, which is almost entirely in Everglades National Park, and the Keys islands from Key Largo to the Dry Tortugas. Adventurers and Tourists can test the water by boating or fishing, or both. There are plenty of chartered fishing cruises for prized game fish. Get up close and personal with tropical fish on a snorkel trip, or dive to explore a shipwreck on the ocean floor. The local culture is loaded with art galleries, museums, and shops. You can find the finest fresh fish restaurants while you unwind and take in the culture with the locals.
George Tkalych grew up on the prairies of Saskatchewan. He is a retired Head and Neck (Ears, Nose, and Throat) Surgeon but proudly spent his life living his dream job, serving others to get them through surgery and medical needs. He has ventured to the Rockies, Vancouver and Saskatchewan to fish, rock climb and ski. George proudly takes solace in the fact that he has helped ease people’s pain and frustrations.
